HBO series Game of Thrones burst onto the scene back in with a cinematic story set in a high medieval fantasy world. Along with the expansive storytelling and sprawling cast, Game of Thrones also had its fair share of saucy scenes and bare flesh. As Game of Thrones season eight is set to hit our screens, we look back at the disparity between male and female nudity in the series.
The HBO series wants to have it both ways when it comes to respecting and objectifying women Game Of Thrones knows a thing or two about patriarchy. Not only is the battle over which ruler will sit on the Iron Throne a literal manifestation of it, the show also smartly observes that female contenders have to fight twice as hard to even enter the race. By exploring the ways women push back against the limitations of a male-dominated society, Game Of Thrones has created some of the most compelling female protagonists on TV.
Nudity and sex have always been weird stigmas when it comes to video games. Nevertheless, there are a few games which have been brave enough to depict pixellated nudity and sex over the years. Some games manage to do it in a mature and realistic way while others take a slightly different approach.
